The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major policy decision for Agniveers by approving 20% reservation in UP Police, PAC and Fire Services jobs. This decision, cleared by the Yogi Adityanath-led cabinet, will apply to Agniveers who complete their four-year service under the Agnipath scheme.
In addition to the job quota, Agniveers will get a relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit, aligning them with other ex-servicemen benefits. The proposal was sent by the Home Department and has now been officially approved, paving the way for employment opportunities for Agniveers after they exit military service.
This move is set to benefit the first batch of Agniveers, who are expected to complete their tenure in 2026. Under the Agnipath scheme, only 25% of recruits are retained permanently in the armed forces, while the remaining 75% exit after four years. The reservation policy is aimed at supporting this larger group in securing government employment.
The UP Police Recruitment 2025 notification is also expected soon, with nearly 28,000 vacancies across various roles like constables, sub-inspectors, jail warders, computer operators and radio assistants. The inclusion of Agniveers under the reservation policy will play a key role in the upcoming recruitment cycles.
